Camping at Fort Wilderness

Camping + friends = awesome!

We are so blessed to have friends with which we have so much in common.  Greg and Cheryl have also adopted their beautiful children from China.  Connor is a year older than Caleb, and Kylie is a year younger than Madeline.  That makes for great fun together.  And not only that, but we also share a love for camping.  So when they asked us if we wanted to join them on their camping adventure to Fort Wilderness, we couldn't say yes fast enough!
We opted to only enjoy the resort and skip the theme parks.  Great idea. Fort Wilderness is huge.  They have cabins (which we stayed in last time we were here) and campsites.  And as such, it takes a while to get from point A to point B.  That means needing bikes or renting a golf cart to get around.  We were late on reserving our golf cart and so only had it for one day.  That made for lots of unique transportation configurations. lol

One day we opted to do some fishing for a little while.
We started off with hot dogs for bait but eventually had to switch to worms.  The kids loved it.
Madeline was the only one to reel in a fish. I can't remember what type of fish it was.
After fishing, the boys headed over to the tennis courts for some father/son tennis matches while the girls hit the pool.  Yep, we were swimming in December. Craziness.  The funny thing is that between the three of us, none of us had both our cover up AND our swimsuit.  That's how good I was at packing this time. lol.  No worries, Havi wasn't the only one swimming in her clothes, though she was the only one to swim in part pajamas.  lol  Sometimes you just do what ya gotta do.

Later that night, we went to Chip and Dale's Singalong and ate s'mores.  I love having an excuse to eat s'mores, do the hokey pokey, and act like a kid. Hee hee.  The big kids stayed up late to watch the fireworks and boat parade while I stayed back with Havi.

It was such a fun, busy but low-key first day at Fort Wilderness.  I took too many photos, so there will be a part 2 to this adventure.  That part will have to wait, though, as we have another big day today involving tennis and a precious little boy who's growing up too fast.

Happy Sunday!!!

About This Blog

This blog is a place where we have shared our lives with family and friends while we waited to bring our daughter, Madeline, home from China and while we actually traveled to China for her. It is also a place where we will continue to share our life experiences, as we try to glorify God and raise our two precious dumplings from China.

And now we wait to bring Havi home from China.
